Cat Rescue Midnight Marathon
Donation protected
For the third straight year, I will be running in the annual New York Cat Hospital Father's Day Marathon. And as sole participant, there's a good chance I'll win...again!
This year, I'm running to raise funds to help two cat rescue groups: Frankie's Feline Fund (http://www.frankiesfelinefund.org/)
and Ready for Rescue (http://www.readyforrescue.org/).
These dedicated animal advocates pull elderly, ill, or otherwise unadoptable cats from the euthanasia lists at area shelters, provide necessary medical care, and place them in foster and forever homes. Between them they've saved literally hundreds of sweet, wonderful cats from an unnecessary end.
Pictured above is toothless "Rizzo" - one of the aforementioned rescues - now living happily here at New York Cat Hospital!
This year's run will be a MIDNIGHT MARATHON. The "race" will start at midnight on Father's Day eve, and finish in the wee hours at...Mc Donalds! (Seriously...I'll be hungry.) To the best of my knowlege, this is New York's first and only MIDNIGHT MARATHON!
I'll be running with headlamps and a taser (to defend against coyotes), while live-tweeting my position in case of attack. (Only half-joking here.)
Please help support the selfless, good-hearted work of Ready For Rescue and Frankie's Feline Fund with a donation.
