Help Bring Cathy Jimenez Home
Help Bring Cathy Home
Patrick will be bringing Cathy home for her
continued recovery. Cathy underwent EC-IC
Bypass surgery on her right side of her brain to
restore blood flow to her right side of her brain.
Her surgery was on August 24, 2020. Cathy
unfortunately suffered two strokes during her
recovery which has impaired both arms, both
legs and her speech temporarily. The medical
staff is confident Cathy will regain use of her
arms and legs and will be able to speak again in
time. It is difficult to estimate the recovery time
which could be months to a year and half until
she is fully recovered.
Patrick has decided to continue her recovery at
home versus her being placed in a skilled nurse
facility due to high risk of Covid-19 and her not
being able to have any visitors. Cathy has been
in the hospital for 50 plus days and will be sent
home as soon as her home is made ready to
accommodate her. Prior to her surgery, Cathy
and family were in the middle of relocating to a
smaller single story home to better fit her needs
and eliminate stairs. Patrick and kids have been
staying in a hotel for the past two months while
looking for a single story house that would be
good for Cathy and her recovery. A house has
been found and is being made ready for move in by October 23rd. Patrick will be bringing Cathy
home around the last week of October or when
all medical equipment has been set up for her.
We thank you and appreciate you for all of your prayers and assistance over the last two months. In order for Patrick to bring Cathy home, he will be needing to have all of the medical equipment and supplies to care for Cathy which some is
covered by health insurance and most is not. We
Thank you in advance if you can assist with
helping Patrick bring Cathy home to her family.

Cathy Jimenez is my youngest sister. She is married to Patrick Jimenez and they have two daughters and a son and live in San Antonio. In January 2019, Cathy had numerous mini strokes. This past May she suffered a major stroke. After numerous tests and exams her neurosurgeon diagnosed Cathy with Moyamoya disease/syndrome. This is a serious and progressive disease if left untreated and also even more severe with underlying conditions such as diabetes which she has also been diagnosed with. The latest cerebral angiogram shows that her right cerebral carotid artery is completely blocked and her left cerebral carotid artery is about 70% blocked. Both of these arteries are the main blood supply to the brain. The only treatment available to help restore necessary blood flow to the brain and reduce any future strokes which today is about 100% that another major stroke will occur to about 5-10% risk of any subsequent strokes is surgery. It is highly recommended that she have extracranial-intracranial bypass surgery or EC-IC Bypass. This is a major surgery as they will have to remove a small piece of her skull in order to resection a donor vein from her scalp directly onto the middle cerebral artery. Due to COVID-19, her earliest surgery date is August 17th. We are asking for Prayers and assistance because Cathy has not been or will be able to work for at least 6-7 months for recovery time. We sincerely thank you for you prayers and any donation you can make.
