Update: if you're new & don't know Gracie's story please read and come back up to the top here.

Gracie went through her first sugery Friday, she had to spend the night so Saturday morning her foster mom & I were there first thing to take her back to her loving foster home. Dr. Wilks explained everything in great detail. As we were about to leave i asked Dr. Wilks to hold her so I could get a good pic of her surgical site to share with her supporters. Upon doing so he noticed another hernia. She actually was suffering from TWO hernias. The first was her intestines. The injuries were old and constant with what they see when one has been hit by a car. She had several old abrasions on the inside. She has suffered a great deal by her abusers! It was an old chronic hernia that developed lots and lots of scar tissue which is extremely hard for doctors to repair. The other hernia is on the opposite side, her bladder is hanging out of her abdominal cavity. Since she was late term pregnant, had she'd gone in labor the kittens would've died, her uterus would've popped out, cut off bloodsupply to her kittens, and she would've turned septic which is a brutal, harsh, painful death. She was rescued just in time!

Btw GoFundMe took down the orginal pic of her injury (arm) bc it was too graphic. You can see those pics on our fb page if you'd like

She will be staying at the vet a few more days. We are unsure if she will have her bladder hernia repair surgery tomorrow or Monday. It will be another month to six weeks before she can have her "backyard amputation" fixed properly. She has endured some hard blows. Her body has taken some serious beatings. I'm so amazed at her strength and beautiful spirit to keep the fight. She was so excited and happy to see us. She was her loving self, head butting everybody. Gracie is a special kitty who's been the victim of sheer evil humans. The torture she has experienced sickens us all to no end.
Below is her orginal story. I will continue to share updates with YOU, her biggest family of supporters. Her life was literally saved because of people like you giving. Any amount is so desperately needed and appreciated!

***** orginal post *****
Gracie our newest rescue kitty had her arm & paws just weeks ago, she was normal with 4 paws. Not now. It sends chills beyond words to tell you that this was not the work of a vet. As my vet explained, a vet would amputate at the shoulder bc they will use the partial arm. As a result it stays infected and is constantly enduring trauma as they try to walk on it. It's not designed to carry weight. As you can see it's horribly infected and she desperately needs a proper amputation. The way this bone is cut, the bone seem like a solid cut. It doesn't appear torn. It was suggested someone could've taken an ax and chopped off her arm. The torture she must of endured is beyond words. Her constant agonizing pain doesn't end there though. This poor baby has a large hernia the size of a baseball in her lower abdominal area plus she's pregnant. This means bc of the hernia if she gives birth it will likely kill her. Her best chance of surviving is urgent, spay/abortion/hernia surgery. Even if she tried, we don't know that the kittens would make it but almost certain momma will not. While doing the spay they would attempt to fix the baseball size hernia which is a very tedious invasive surgery itself. She needs two major surgeries. They can't be done at the same time, i asked. To have any quality of life without being in constant pain she needs her arm properly amputated. This is going run $1400 for both surgeries..

Her life is worth fighting for. She is so young. About a year old and it appears as if this would of been her first litter of kittens. We need everyone who can to please send her some love! Any amount big or small. We have a large goal but I have faith God will help us find a way for her. Time is of the essence of her first surgery! Please donate, please share! Sharing helps us reach more people and with our goal of saving her life Gracie needs all the love and support she can get!
