Cat's expensive piss surgery

Update: It's with a heavy heart that I have to update this fundraiser with the news that the cat didn't make it through its surgery. It was a necessary intervention, but complications arose after the fact with which the cat would have suffered for sure. It was sudden and terrible and tragic. I'm continuing to maintain this page because now my friend has surgical bills without even the cat itself as consolation, so any donations now would be more appreciated than ever.

This isn't my cat. This is my friend's cat, Grendel the Grey, and according to my friend "he was so unable to piss through his tiny pisshole that they had to make it bigger and put a catheter in him or he'd actually die." Harrowing! The technical term is "perineal urethrostomy," if you're curious.

I used past tense in the previous paragraph because Grendel has already gotten the surgery and seems to be alright. However, turns out that while his pisshole may have been life-threateningly small, the bill for the surgery sure as hell isn't. That's the purpose of this campaign.

Although Grendel is okay, there's no way for my friend to cover the cost of the surgery themself without obliterating their finances—which sucks especially because they've been saving up to get out on their own from a really bad family situation (bringing the cat with them when they go, of course). I know the stakes aren't as dire as "donate now or the cat dies," but I hope that if you can spare anything, you can chip in so that my friend's cat's narrow pisshole doesn't get them thrown in debtor's prison or stuck with their toxic family any longer than they need to be during a dire pandemic. We'd be really grateful.
