Chris's Battle With Kidney Disease

Chris Cauffield is a loving husband and a wonderful father of two beautiful children. Chris is one of the most driven and hard-working people we know. Chris was recently hospitalized because his kidneys were failing. He was later diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases called Sjögren's syndrome and ANCA vasculitis. Both of these autoimmune diseases specifically attacked his kidneys. He was also diagnosed with FSGS which is a rare kidney disease that scars the kidneys. All 3 of these diseases have damaged 85% of Chris's kidneys. He is having dialysis 3 times per week in Sebring and going to Tampa for other treatments to try and prevent further progression of kidney failure.
Living with kidney diease changes your life, as far as what you can eat, things you can do and your overall lifestyle. Chris's doctors do not want him working on roofs or any jobs that require him to be in the sun sweating due to the possibility of dehydration or a deathly infection to his chest catheter. When construction is your livelihood, all of these factors contribute to one huge life altering event. Through it all, Chris will continue to remain strong and have a positive attitude, focusing on all the good in his life.
Chris is not one to ask for financial help. We are spearheading his effort to raise funds to assist with medical expenses and loss of income. Any amount that you can contribute is much appreciated.
