As many of you are aware, my brother John Paul was recently diagnosed with heart failure. He was experiencing symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath and swelling for several weeks. On 10/16/19, he was admitted to the hospital because doctors found a blot clot in his lung. Shortly after finding the blood clot, doctors discovered that John Paul’s heart is very weak. Specifically, his heart is not pumping out blood as it should be. During each heartbeat pumping cycle, the heart contracts and relaxes. When the heart contracts, it ejects blood from the two pumping chambers. This function of the heart is measured by what they call Ejection Fraction, which ranges between 50 and 70 % for a normal heart. John Paul’s Ejection Fraction is around 10%. As a result, his activity level is significantly impacted.

John Paul has been discharged from the hospital, but Doctors are still working to understand what led to his weakened heart and to develop an intensive treatment plan to improve heart functioning and thin the blood clot. Needless to say, he cannot work.

Moreover, John Paul and Denise are in the process of buying a home that needed complete renovation. They have been working themselves to rebuild each room one at a time. Obviously, all work has now stopped.

Those of you who know my brother know he has a big heart. He’s notorious for dropping everything to help a friend or family member in need. He’s even raised money for cancer research and donated his time building homes for Habitat for Humanity. He’s a loving fiancé to Denise and a devoted father to 4 of the most beautiful and caring children you could ever meet (ages 14, 11, 2 and 1).

It could be many months before John Paul can work again, so we’re asking for your support to help him, Denise and the children get through this scary, unpredictable and difficult time. No amount is too small; every penny is appreciated. If you’re unable to help financially, donations of food or clothing for the growing baby boys (ages 1 ½ and 2 ½) would also be helpful. Please reach out to me through PM or via email at [email redacted]. Thank you, everyone, for your continuing prayers and kind thoughts!
