SAVE OUR RESCUE HORSES - BRUMBIES AND RACEHORSES

THANK YOU FOR SAVING OUR PONIES

I've been creating a documentary on saving horses, both Australian brumbies and ex-racing horses, thoroughbreds.

I have been on this journey since 2016.

I've always loved horses, like a lot of you.

Horses are peaceful, strong, amazing, beautiful, graceful and represent family in many cultures.

Many people and celebrities around the world love horses, The Queen, Princess Margaret, Clint Eastwood, Madonna, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts, Richard Gere and Reese Witherspoon, just as a start.

Because I have always loved horses, and due to a random facebook post of a 'horse auction', I decided to check it out a local (1.5 hours away) horse auction, simply to see what was involved...

So, I drove to a horse auction on Easter Saturday in 2016, and was astounded, and devastated, at how many horses were there.

I had no idea that over around 300 horses, both domestically trained and brumbies were going to be sold that day, the majority of them to be sold to 'Doggers' to be killed in 4 days time, for dogfood.  This is injustice.

THE LAIDLEY AUCTION - CAVIAR & MOMMA - EASTER SATURDAY & MONDAY RESCUE MISSION
This is where I met 'Caviar' and her 'Momma'.  I didn't know that I would want to save these 2 horses, both being bought by 'doggers' and destined to be killed in the abattoir on the following Tuesday.  The abattoir owners, called 'doggers' don't care about animals, only money.  Caviar was bought by the dogger for $90 and Momma for $300.  I immediately bought Caviar, only 1 minute after the dogger had successfully purchased her at auction, sold her to me for $300 over the next 5 minutes.  While I was buying 'Caviar' (I actually had to go to the ATM to get cash, as I had no plan to actually save a horse), Momma was sold to another dogger.   I had to hurriedly arrange transport for Caviar, and a paddock, and then find out who had bought Momma, and how to save her.  This was harder.

The Auctioneers definitely didn't want to give me the doggers details.  I begged them.  I did everything in my power to show them that THIS was the hhorse that I HAD TO SAVE.  They said they couldn't give me his details, but they'd give him my mobile.  I sorted Caviar's transport, but was also waiting to hear from this dogger, to save Momma.  I keep calling the Auctioneers.  I was obsessive.  The dogger finally called.  He said he didn't understand why I wanted to save 'this horse', and that he'd already sent her 2 hours drive away to the abattoir yards, which are next to the killing sheds.  He tried to deter me, and offered to sell me many other 'rideable' horses.  I was adamant.  He wanted $600 immediately for her.  I paid it while he was on the phone.  I organised her transport on Easter Monday - the transport lady had to drive 4 hours to get her, and search for her through hundreds of horses, all scared and destined to be killed the following morning.

She collected Momma, who had a wound on her leg that was bleeding and weeping.  Momma was saved, only hours from being killed through a bolt to the head, or being shot.

The 'dogger' that bought Caviar, bought 28 horses for $2,800 and all of those horses, some young ponies only a few months old, became dog and pet food.  They didn't have the luck of me saving them - what would I be able to do with them?  I had to make a plan!

And any mission, requires support and community, and you!  You can be apart of our mission to help save our Brumbies and our ex-racing, Thoroughbreds.

HOW MUCH IS A BRUMBY OR EX-RACE HORSE WORTH - TO BE KILLED?
This is an average of $100 per horse/pony to be killed for our petfood....!

And there are 100,000 horses every year being killed for petfood in Australia and New Zealand alone.

Surely our pets would be best off NOT eating horse - which they wouldn't eat in the wild.  Which toy poodles and toy dogs would be eating horse in the wild?  The only person to benefit from this, is the 'dogger'.  There is a guy locally boasting that he bought the most expensive Ferrari for $4Million - he's a dogger and owns the petfood company.  This is incredulous.  It's ridiculous, and we are letting this happen.  It has to stop and we can stop it.

Australian brumby horses are crucial to our culture.

They are beautiful and helped build Australia, transporting goods and people, making roads and cities that Australia has been built on.

We must respect this.  We can do this together, with action.

That was the start of my horse rescuing mission.  I didn't ever plan it, or think that I would be doing that.  I went to the auction to simply observe.  My heart wouldn't let me not act.  That Easter Saturday, has become a significant day I will never forget in my life.  That day, I became the owner of 2 rescue horses, and fulfilled the start of the passion of my life.

CAVIAR & MOMMA
Caviar was a wild Australian brumby.  Momma was a thoroughbred, born on a prestigious farm, never raced, but had a number, not a name.  She was a brood mare.  A mare only for breeding.  Momma was 14 years old then.  You can't ride her, she's never been riden.  She is handled and not dangerous.  I was lucky, and my heart chose these 2 horses.  It was fate and destiny.

I was astounded when I started researching how many horses the abbatoirs, or 'doggers' kill in Australia and New Zealand.  Over 100,000 horses are killed for petfood and a small amount of luxury horse meat for middle eastern exportation.

I was shocked and astounded.  Mortified.  I needed to do something.  Just like you.  You can't sit on the sidelines, being a spectator, not a contender.

Action is everything.  Please get involved.  Now.  Don't wait.

I've now saved 7 horses, and have been privately funding this.  Funding the feed, agistment, training and handling and care of all of these ponies.  This is extremely expensive, while I create the documentary.

I want to show that you can save these horses, for between $100 - $300 and create a horse that will love your family and be a useful animal in society.

THE HORSES YOU ARE SAVING:

Caviar - Australian brumby trained for polo
Momma - Australian thoroughbred 'brood' mare
Qantas - Australian thoroughbred gelding, raced 4 times, was going to be sent to the doggers.  Was a 'sack of bones' when I bought him.
Fame - Australia thoroughbred, saved only 20 minutes from the doggers and the abbatoirs.
Match - Australian brumby trained, and ambitious to be riden
Peaches - Australian brumby trained and rideable
Stormy - Australian bumby trained and rideable

Now I realise that there are so many people who would also like to contribute and make a community to help save horses, in Australia and the world over.  It is costly, the training, the time, the dedication, the committment.  Not to mention that we are in drought, and have to pay prices that are double the normal costs for hay, and purchase water!

Please donate as much as you can!

THIS IS AN AMAZING, WORTHWHILE AND IMPORTANT CAUSE - SAVE OUR AUSTRALIAN BRUMBIES AND EX-RACEHORSES.

You can invest as little as $5.00 and as much as a family office donation of over $1Million to help support, save and provide sanctuary for our important horses!

I would like your support, whilst I create the documentary to show what you can do through love and dedication, and that there is more then just 'doggers' who can benefit from Australian Brumbies, and they can be trained and used productively for many other activities.

Horses have been known to have many healing powers with children, people with disability and can be trained for sports, other then racing,  and being peaceful animals, enjoy doing so.

I am now raising the funds to cover the costs of the horses, and arrange a property so that I don't have to pay outrageous agistment fees for them for the long term.  The property will be a sanctuary for horses (possibly other animals).  I am searching for this property already.

I APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT.

THANK YOU FOR DONATING AND SUPPORTING OUR PONIES.

Please support our wonderful rescue brumbies and thoroughbreds and join us on the journey to share our story with the world.

PLEASE DONATE, COMMENT & SHARE & GET MORE PEOPLE INVOLVED.

LET'S CREATE A CARING PEOPLE MOVEMENT TO SHOW THE WORLD HOW WE VALUE OUR HORSES.  WHETHER IT'S OUR AUSSIE BRUMBIES OR OUR RESCUE THOROUGBREDS - BY SAVING THEM.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR PONIES.
