Cayman’s cancer bills

My beautiful and amazing best friend went to Heaven on August 6, 2022…he was only 11 years old. I’m Jennifer, Cayman’s Mom.
I’m mid-July, Cayman became very sick with a temperature of 105.2, lethargy and loss of appetite. No amount of medication or fluids could get rid of his fever or symptoms between my veterinarians in-office treatment and then overnight at an emergence animal hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer after emergency surgery found a perforated small intestine with a large tumor inside. The tumor was removed along with 10” of his small intestine. Below are photos from surgery where you can see the perforation (black hole) and then the repaired small intestine.
A phenomenal job was done by my Vet and Cayman immediately started showing improvement…even after the cancer diagnosis.
We loved on each other in the cage for just over 2 hours while he was waiting for surgery. He was so brave.
For 3 weeks and 3 days, my best friend was healing beautifully, happy and smiling again. I woke up on Friday, August 5 and knew there was something terribly wrong with Cayman. We rushed back to the vet where he again had a fever of 105, lethargy and a distended abdomen. He was hospitalized all day in my Vets office with medication and fluids and, once again, his body was not responding. An ultrasound was done late that afternoon and found severe pancreatitis, peritonitis and an abdomen full of fluid. Aspiration was done and the fluid was found to be full of large cell lymphoma. There was nothing else I could do for my best friend and the devastation I felt at that news was incomprehensible.
My Vet kindly came to my condo the next day, after telling me to take Cayman home overnight, love on him and spend more time with him. For 6 hours on that Saturday, we laid next to each other on the floor and listened to his favorite music (yes, he loved music). When my Vet arrived with his technician, we talked and they waited ever so patiently for me to let them know I was ready. The procedure was quite peaceful and Cayman went to Heaven at 2:10 pm on August 6…3 days before my birthday.
These are 2 of the last photos of him with one of his beloved tennis balls.
I’m a single Mom who raised 4 children alone (from when they were 5 and 7), and I’m a Special Education Teacher. The emptiness, sadness and loneliness I feel at the loss of my best friend is almost indescribable. I have not asked for help for anything before but I am asking for help with Cayman’s bills. They are just over $9,000. I am extremely grateful for anything that you can donate toward Cayman’s medical bills. Once his bills are paid, I will be donating to Animal Cancer Research organizations in his name. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
