Caysen’s Medical Journey
This Go Fund Me page is being set up for a family in need. Their son Caysen was just diagnosed with 2 rare disorders that are going to require a lot of medical attention. They are facing a lot of unplanned medical expenses, not to mention having to take time off of work to take Caysen to these appointments and medical procedures. They will be facing additional childcare expenses for their other 3 young children as well as travel expenses. Having the worry that your baby is going to be okay is one thing but the additional financial stress adds a lot more to their plate. Caysen is just 11 months old and his journey is only beginning. I am reaching out to everyone to help this family & to ease some of the stress and worries they are facing.
Caysen was diagnosed with Arnold-Chiari Chiari Malformation. He has associated hydrocephalus and a possible spinal defect (spina bifida) as well. A recent MRI revealed the extra fluid on Caysen’s ventricles is adding extra pressure on his surrounding brain tissue. There is concern about the added pressure with an urgency for a possible shunt to be placed to help drain the fluid. There is also discussion for a different surgery known as decompression surgery to remove part of his skull to allow more space for his cerebellum and to remove the pressure from the brain stem. There is also a need for an MRI of his spine to see if there are any spinal defects. Caysen will be referred to Phoenix Children’s hospital which will add more expense for his family and time off of work.
Caysen was also just diagnosed with a completely separate issue called Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia which is a rare genetic disorder that affects the tiny hairlike structures (cilia) that line the respiratory tract. They don’t function properly which makes it difficult for him to move mucous and bacteria out of his body.
Let’s all come together to help this family get the care they need for their little boy. If you are able to donate, please do so. Also help get the word out about Caysen’s journey by sharing this Go Fund Me page to anyone else who is able to show support.
You can also send any donations directly to them via Zelle at phone number [phone redacted].
