Support Caysen’s Long Road to Recovery

”I thought I was a going to die. I wanted to pass out and my ears were muffled… I stayed calm for my family and my friends and I went to the hospital and I’ve been here ever since.”
My name is Carolyn Jordon, or Mrs. CJ, as my students called me when I taught at North Forney High School, and I created this fundraiser for a former student of mine named Caysen Gentry. Caysen is a fun-loving, hilarious, genuine, and quirky kid with a heart of gold who often stayed after school to volunteer and was never afraid to stick around and help out around the classroom. He is the definition of a good kid.
On May 10th, Caysen and a few friends went out for lunch when every parent’s worst nightmare happened- they got into a bad car accident. At no fault of his own, Caysen’s tire hit something on an interstate entry ramp and he lost control of his car. They spun into a guardrail, which crashed directly into the driver’s side door and crushed Caysen’s left leg. His friends, although bruised and shaken up, thankfully only sustained minor injuries. They stood by and watched helplessly as first responders worked to free Caysen from the wreckage as he suffered from massive blood loss.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the first responders and his doctors, Caysen is in stable condition and recovering, but he has a long and painful road to recover ahead of him. He needed blood transfusions and a nearly 5 hour surgery to reconstruct his leg. He broke his pelvis, femur, tibia, and fibula, and is still hospitalized a week after his accident, relearning how to walk again.
Despite it all, Caysen is still his kind, hilarious, and loving self. He hasn’t let this get him down. At 16 years old, this kid has more courage than most adults.
He comes from a good, hardworking family, and neither he nor his parents would ever ask for help- but this is a tremendously difficult time in their lives and Caysen is going to need all of the love and support he can get throughout his lengthy hospital stay and months of healing and rehabilitation.
All funds donated will go directly to the Gentry’s to help them with Caysen’s care and whatever other financial difficulties that often come up when your child is in need of long term medical attention. Every penny counts, and if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Together, we make a difference for Caysen and his family.
