THERE HAS BEEN A DEVELOPMENT!

After a very difficult winter seasonal period where I became very unwell I have now looked into getting surgery abroad instead of in the UK as it is a faster track and my health cannot wait any longer.

Like so many trans people in the UK and across the world right now we are in dire need of life saving surgeries and it's getting harder than ever to access the healthcare we need.

My surgery is booked in turkey for the 21st of February 2024 with a great surgeon who has saved the lives of countless trans people!

I have re adjusted the amount I am raising again to 12 and I am just 4k short of this at the moment

This will cover the costs of rent, bills, pre-assessments, pre &/or post-op appointments, post-op binders and/or revisions.

It will also cover the expense of being able to pay access and support workers to travel with me and help me with my care abroad.

This is HUGE NEWS and I am very grateful but also very anxious.

These are really difficult times for lots of reasons, but if there is any way you can donate, share and keep sharing I may be able to reach my target and then safely be able to travel, have surgery and recover.

With all your help and generosity I can access the healthcare I need and I am so grateful!

Hello everyone, my name is Caz.

I’m a black queer non binary trans person trying their best to navigate the world which we all live in.

I’ve been doing my best on a journey of being comfortable in myself and the gender that feels best for me. This is a wonderful thing and I’m very grateful to have access to a supportive and kind community of friends and found family that share similar experiences.

With the sweet does come the sour- and figuring out what’s best for me and my identity has also meant years now of binding my chest which has led to chronic back pain and excruciating skin problems from using tape an binders that hurt because of having a 38FF chest size for a very long portion of my life.

Being on the GIC waiting list to even be confirmed and considered as a trans person is proving to be really difficult and with the current climate of how overstretched the NHS is and the policies being put in place around trans health care and our human rights means that the time is of the essence for getting life affirming surgeries sooner rather than later.

I came to the decision of wanting top surgery some time ago but it’s only recently I’ve realised I need this as soon as possible and with a fair bit of financial help.

As a working class person making money mainly through freelance work I will need support to pay my rent during the 6 week recovery period after surgery which is why I’m asking for help raising the amount that I am.

Here is a breakdown of some o[f the costs I’m expecting after a lot of research:

Gender Psychiatrist: £250 - £300 (May need more than one appointment)

Endocrinologist: £200 - £250 (follow up appointment £150 - £200)

Surgeon Consultant: Face 2 Face £150 - £250 and/or Phone Consult £70 - £85

Private Surgery Referral: £150

Top Surgery £7,500 - £9,500

Some do/don’t include Covid Test/Screening, overnight stay (as long as clinically needed), pre-assessments, pre &/or post-op appointments, post-op binders and/or free revisions.

I am doing my best to work as much as possible in the months before surgery to support myself during the aftercare period but any donations towards this goal would be incredible.

I understand that the trans and queer community are stretched to a maximum place now and things feel very uncertain and scary, but I am so grateful for any and all help towards getting this life-changing surgery.
