Join Hoa's battle against leukemia

Our older brother, Hoa, has been battling leukemia since being diagnosed in November 2023.

We all know Hoa to be relatively young, healthy and physically active. But when the news hit, we had no time to process our shock, as the doctors directed him to start chemotherapy immediately. After that first, long month in the hospital, Hoa was allowed to return home briefly to be with his family: his wife, teenage son, and their dog. However, tragedy struck again in the first week of 2024 when their house caught fire in the middle of the cold, winter night. Everyone got out okay, but the New Year left them without a home.

Although the family was able to find temporary housing, Hoa's treatment required him to be away for much of the year anyway. After a bone marrow transplant in the summer, the remaining months of 2024 have been a waiting game. In December, doctors raised concern about some cancer still in his system, and wanted to schedule Hoa for additional chemotherapy in 2025. However, the insurance company is now denying coverage.

Hoa's wife, Tina, has been working tirelessly to manage her full-time job while also helping to coordinate home care, hospital visits, rebuilding, travel, insurance claims, etc. Hoa's son is set to graduate high school this spring and hopefully go on to college. Despite their perseverance, this latest setback prolongs the physical, emotional and financial stresses already in their lives. By establishing this fund, I hope at least to provide some relief for Hoa and his family, and to show them that their network of family and friends will always have their backs.
