Help Save A Life.
Everybody’s individual health is valuable to them, whether that be going to the doctor when you feel sick or going to the emergency room when you break a bone. But what are you supposed to do when your mental health is what’s causing you pain? If you don’t have the knowledge to help alleviate your mental illness, it can be incredibly difficult to know where to start. That is exactly what Mental Health Collaborative (MHC) aims to achieve. They have impacted thousands of people in over 20 countries over their last 16 years in business. As a one-of-a-kind organization, they have offered comprehensive knowledge through their programs on all 4 components of Mental Health Literacy. But they need your support to keep this effort alive.
Mental health affects us all. Individually and reaching those in our immediate circle, whether it's family members or friends. the Mental Health Collaborative 2024 data report shows that “1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness in their lifetime, with most cases beginning between ages 12 and 25.” But sadly, for most the journey of getting help doesn’t start until 8 to 11 years from the first signs of symptoms. This delay of aid can have a devastating impact, which is why our class group from the University of North Texas is taking initiative in raising funds for Mental Health Collaborative, an organization pushing for Mental Health Literacy (MHL).
MHC provides multiple programs for schools, communities and organizations in order to educate and promote seeking help. These evidence-based programs can be life-saving. In many situations, leaders have felt they didn’t have adequate knowledge in order to provide help to their students, employees or community members. With “90% of teachers [reporting] that they didn’t have the knowledge to address student mental health needs,” these programs and the information it provides are necessary for the health of our communities and for prevention.
With their programs being backed by Mental Health America, The JED Foundation, National Academy of Health and Physical Literacy, and Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, the various specifications are endless. Delivered by experienced clinicians and educators, you are in the best hands possible. From programs for older adults and their caregivers to providing education to student leaders, their aim for mental health literacy across all communities is endless. The benefits MHC and their programs provide are all-encompassing, from “proactive mental health support in the workplace [resulting] in 6x the ROI,” to improving grades, mental health affects more than you would think.
MHC Mission:
Many struggle in silence, unsure where to turn or how to recognize the signs of mental health issues. That’s why this organization places mental health literacy at the core of its mission, believing that education is the first step on the path to treatment. The founder, Abbie Rosenberg, is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, as well as therapist and psychopharmacologist for 30+ years. In the organization’s mission statement, she highlights the persistent stigma, shame, and lack of education surrounding mental health issues in communities, which inspired her to create a space for support, education, and understanding.
Mental Health Collaborative envisions a world where that kind of literacy is universal, and as a result, our communities thrive and flourish. Through education and awareness, they are working towards decreasing the stigma and opening up for true conversations about mental illness. Too many people have suffered in silence for too long.
Why your donation matters:
Every donation received goes towards promoting mental literacy and education in communities that have gone too long without this live-saving knowledge. Helping build these resilient communities can only be done with your help.
Whether you can donate or simply share our campaign, your support will help save lives and make mental health care accessible to everyone. Let us break the stigma so no one will have to suffer in silence.
Thank you for being part of our cause. Together, we can build a resilient, more educated community.
Testimonials:
“One of the most relevant and well-presented professional trainings in my 15 years of teaching. I’ve successfully applied this content in my work with students, my relationships with others, and with my own children” - Educator
“As a manager and as a family member, I found this program extremely helpful. I gained so much clarity and education about mental health and how to talk about it to employees and to my friends and family. I highly recommend this program to everyone in the corporate workplace.” - Employee
“Mental Health Collaborative’s session for our volunteers was full of information and strategies in order to have productive conversations about mental health with young people. The facilitators were knowledgeable about the field and helped build our volunteers skills and comfort level in having these life-saving conversations with youth.” - Non-Profit Organization Employee
“I had been searching for a research based mental health curriculum for our students. I was disappointed with the very few options that I found. The only one I considered before MHC was cost prohibitive and not nearly as comprehensive. When I learned about the MHC curriculum, it checked all the boxes. My teachers could hit the ground running with everything that was given to us AND we were also given more than enough materials and activities to expand on the units in the future. The best part – our students loved it!” - K-12 Wellness Director
