Help Culver Schools Marketing Fund

Culver Community School Corporation consists of three public schools: an elementary, middle, and high school located in the small town of Culver, Indiana. We are the only district in Indiana to serve four townships in four counties: Aubbeenaubbee in Fulton County, North Bend in Starke County, Tippecanoe in Pulaski County, and Union in Marshall County. The Indiana Department of Education has withdrawn a substantial amount of funding from our budget and that of many schools in Indiana. Essentially, we are forced to operate like a business without a marketing budget. However, the CCSC Administration is taking control to grow our student population as they have established four Strategic Planning Committees: Core Planning Team,
Curriculum Team, Marketing Team(including Safety),
and Cost Containment. We are choosing to stay ahead of the current trend that small schools are experiencing regarding the struggle to make ends meet by being proactive. We are informing you because we need your help.
We love our schools!
Of the four committees, the CCSC Marketing Team's goal is to build a brand for the Culver Community Schools that embodies all of the characteristics that make our schools shine:
*a nurturing and small-town family environment
*an engaging curriculum (that has produced 5 Lilly Scholars in 15 years)
*sports as an engine for character development
*after-school programming that supports family needs
*a loving, qualified, and dedicated staff that is committed to developing well-rounded individuals
*Alternative Education program assisting unconventional students
Six years ago, the state allowed parents and guardians to choose where they would like to send their kids to school. We need to present the most accurate face that defines Culver, as we need prospective families to choose us. Culver Schools have all the qualities families want. The Marketing Team’s goal is to show this in an organized way. Building a strong brand for our schools will not only increase our school spirit, it will directly affect our students academically, socially and civically by communicating positive support, which will also drive families to seek out our schools more than they already do. Studies show families choose schools that show a strong school spirit. Stronger school spirit is a direct result of creating and maintaining a visual environment for students to feel a sense of belonging and ownership resulting in academic achievement and general happiness. Students having a “one for all” mentality will feel connected to the school, its history, and the student body. This will last them well beyond their school years making them supportive alumni.
To achieve this goal, the Marketing Team has contracted with VIP Branding, owned by a nationally recognized leader in team athletic gear, Varsity Brands. To start, we need to raise $6,000 for the new Culver Community Schools logo and an additional coordinating family of logos. VIP Branding will provide us with an ongoing fundraiser through an online Varsity Store website which they will run for us. After our initial goal of $6,000 is met, we hope to raise additional funds to continue our work. These supplemental funds will be used for immediate signage and promotion for our schools to show our professionalism.
We are passionate about this plan because our children, staff, administration and our community deserve success. We hope we can work together to achieve control of the school we love.
Please make a contribution to our fund so that we can bond our community and school together to make great things happen for our kids!
Thank you,
CCSC Marketing Team
FAQ's:
1. Do kids who reside within the CCSC District have to go to Culver Community Schools?
No. In 2011, Indiana passed an extensive school choice program. Now parents and guardians can elect to take their children to any school they choose, as long as they find transportation. Fortunately, most students have chosen the small, personalized atmosphere of Culver Community Schools.
2. Might enrollment decline if we don’t actively recruit students?
Yes, studies show that families choose schools with a strong school spirit, which is why we want to continue to build ours through organized branding.
3. Is the marketing team getting paid for their work?
No. The marketing team is comprised of regular people, mostly parents and teachers who volunteer their time to help.
4. Why can't CCSC fund the marketing plan?
Due to the decline of funding, we are asking for help. We believe in this community staying a community with a growing public school in the heart of it and because strong schools help build strong communities, we need the entire community to help refine our school’s image.
5. What will the money raised by GoFundMe be used for?
The money raised will be used for immediate promotion of our school corporation and designing a distinctive Culver Community Schools logo. We will also receive several other designs that are consistent with the main logo to be used on spirit wear, uniforms, equipment, etc. Schools differ from a business with regard to branding as they need more than just one main logo.
6. What will our new logos look like?
Stay tuned! Logo completion date is set for January 1, 2016.

7. What else will the funds be used for?
*VIP Branding will host a year-round website for our online Varsity Shop (spirit wear), and 10% of each item sold will go back to our schools. The Varsity Shop helps us to remove geography as a barrier in purchasing Culver Community Schools attire and we will have the ability to gain support from parents, students, alumni, and family members from across the country. The Varsity Shop will be filled with fashion gear for everyone from infants to grandparents, allowing you to shop 24/7 with items shipped straight to your home! Even better, designs are continually updated and refreshed for seasons, sports, and events.
