The Pottsville Area High School Marching Band has one of the few remaining majorette squads in Schuylkill County, PA.
Since 2004, they have been recognized for their signature uniform, "The Swirl". The Swirl was a collaborative effort between majorette advisors, Deniece Krater and Patty Ebling. From then until now, more than 100 girls have marched, danced and twirled in this show stopping, sparkling uniform.
Tragically, on January 30. 2017, Patty passed away from an unexpected illness. She left behind not only her husband and 2 children, but also hundreds of young majorettes who loved Patty as a friend, confidant and mentor. This uniform was her favorite.
Due to an increase in production costs, it is becoming very expensive to recreate this uniform for the newest group of young ladies that want to continue the fine tradition of the majorettes; and Patty. Deniece continues to take great effort in keeping Patty's memory alive. The Swirl is an example of this effort.
We are asking for help in defraying the cost for a new set of uniforms. The girls would love to wear this for their upcoming trip to Disney World in February of 2020. Any amount will go a long way in reaching this goal. Any donations received beyond what is needed for our goal will be placed in an already established scholarship fund in Patty's name. This yearly scholarship is distributed to all graduating majorettes.
