CDL Class Fund for Scott's New Life
Donation protected
My husband Scott was released from prison after a 20-year incarceration. He’s 51 and was incarcerated for distribution & trafficking of methamphetamine. He’d never been married and has no children. In 2019, I was asked by a friend of mine if I would help be a contact for him on the outside for things he might need help with, and I agreed. It didn’t take long before we became friends and fell in love with each other. We were never allowed to meet in person because I also am a felon due to a credit card charge (access device fraud), so on 3/4/24, we were married via a proxy marriage, and I was able to meet him in person at prison visitation that following June. I have documented our journey on TikTok, where we have a following of almost 30k people. He was released on 3/20 and moved to me in Missouri and has been applying for jobs all day, every day, with no success. We both knew that living in this world as a felon fresh out of prison would be difficult, but he’s committed to living his life right. He’s been accepted into a CDL class and applied for a grant to pay for it through the Missouri Job Center. He’s been so excited because he knows it will teach him a skill to provide a better future for him & me. He’s a Christian and has been posting daily devotions on TikTok, going to church, and just trying to remain hopeful that things will start looking up for him. He got a call a few minutes ago that his grant was denied because I made too much money last year because I worked so much overtime. He’s so frustrated and discouraged, so I just decided to come here & see if anyone would be willing to donate to help him pay for the course. The 4-week class is $5700. Idk if there’s tax. I have our living expenses covered with my job; we just need help with the class. It’s not easy to ask for help, but it’s sad that he can’t get approved for any assistance. It’s no wonder recidivism is so high. He was released with $11 and a good luck. He has been denied for every state-funded assistance they offer and has applied for over 50 jobs. I just want him to be successful and be given a chance to prove himself. He’s now a first-time husband, stepfather, and Pawpaw, so he has so many positive things in his life, and I just hate seeing him try so hard and be so unsuccessful. We appreciate any help anyone would be willing to give him for this class.
