Paxton's Fight

On November 2, 2022, We received the shocking and unexpected news that Paxton had been diagnosed with stage 4 Classic Hodgkin lymphoma. It is estimated that roughly 8,500-9,000 people in the United States are diagnosed yearly with Hodgkins's Lymphoma. It is a form of cancer that begins in the lymphatic system, part of the immune system. This painful disease develops when lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, become abnormal and grow out of control. According to the American Cancer Society, only 5% of Hodgkin's Lymphoma are found to have a family link.
Paxton was born a fighter. He came into the world two and a half months early and weighed only 3 pounds. Paxton spent the first month of his life at OHSU Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. At first, the doctors were unsure if Paxton would survive; If he did, they were skeptical about what kind of life he would lead. Paxton beat every odd and became a healthy and strong kid.
Paxton once again has a fight ahead of him. He is the youngest of his three older brothers. Once again, his steadfastness, determination and incredible strength will see him beat cancer and become even stronger. All who know and love Paxton know that his toughness and "mind over matter" mentality will get him through these sometimes dark times ahead. Currently, Paxton will have six months of Chemotherapy. After three months, they will take another full body scan to see if the chemotherapy is killing off the cancer cells in the time frame the doctor hopes. If it works as it should, Paxton will continue with the remaining six months of Chemo. If the chemotherapy is not killing cancer as it should, they will try a different chemotherapy, and Paxton will go a full twelve months of chemotherapy.
Paxton's diagnosis was incredibly horrifying and devastating for his family and friends. Though Paxton has a team of doctors who have been excellent on his journey, the road is long and winding. Any money we raise will immediately go toward all medical expenses. We want Paxton to focus on his battle and not worry about the cost of treatment. We appreciate all the love, support, prayers and kindness during this "new normal."
