Help Addy, a Flight Attendant

Addy (Stuart Addison Thomas) has been a Delta Flight Attendant for several years. During that time he has become a wonderful coworker and a dear friend. Addy is warm, caring and energetic; it is a delight to be in his presence.

This is Addy's story; it is tragic, devastating, and it could easily happen to any one of us.

In April of this year, Addy went to the dentist for an infected tooth and he was subsequenty prescribed routine antibiotics. After starting the course of antibiotics, he began to notice itching under his skin which continued to worsen; when he went to his doctor in a state of bewilderment and pain, he was promptly escorted to the hospital. 

Addy stayed at the hospital for two weeks; he was in acute renal failure and spent the entirety of his hospital stay on 24 hour dialysis. He discovered that he had received a batch of "tainted" antibiotics, which destroyed the function of both his kidneys. 

Since leaving the hospital, Addy has had to undergo a daily 8 hour regimen of dialysis, which he administers to himself. He returned to work in September, and he brings his dialysis machine with him in order to complete his treatments during his layovers.

Because of an infected tooth, Addy is now on a list to receive a donatated kidney.

Those of us who know Addy will not be surprised that he continues to have a positive attitude; his humor, strength and grace in the face of his harrowing reality are nothing short of inspirational.
