Cecilia's Crew: Support for Teen Stroke Survivor

My name is Francesca Peck. I'm fundraising to support Cecilia- the daughter of my dear friend and colleague, Michelle Navarre.
Cecilia suffered a major stroke and is in deep need of your support for the funds for her medical care. You are needed. Please help.
What should have been a normal day of Cecilia’s Junior year of high school turned into an unforeseen medical crisis. On Monday, August 28th, she was rushed from her class to Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Cecilia, a vibrant and active teenager, had suffered a major stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side.
This tragic incident has been emotionally and financially devastating for sixteen year old Cecilia and her family, particularly her mother, Michelle, a school founder and principal who has devoted her career to creating a better world for children and families on Chicago’s South and West Sides. Cecilia's medical team at Lurie's continue to be unable to determine the cause of the stroke. Once stabilized, Cecilia's team got straight to work. She began OT and PT which revealed little voluntary movement of her left side and an inability to breathe on her own, but family and team of doctors refused to lose hope. There have been many twists and turns and milestones as Cecilia and her medical team continued their work. From battling pneumonia, to needing a tracheostomy and a g-tube for feeding, Cecilia has endured and overcome great challenges. Her great strength and determination to be resilient and fight has been nothing less than heroic.
We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to help Cecilia and her family overcome these devastating circumstances and invite you to join us in this effort. At the time of the stroke, Cecilia was an honor-roll student athlete looking at which university would fit her best. Now, Cecilia is fighting to return to her normal life.
WHAT WE NEED:
- Immediate Medical Funds: Cecilia’s ongoing medical costs are rapidly accumulating.
- Specialized Treatment: Medical insurance is only covering three days of out patient therapy at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. We believe she needs more, which will have to be paid out of pocket.
- Equipment & Accessibility: Cecilia will need specialized assistance equipment, from wheelchairs to bathing aids, to maintain her quality of life.
