Cecil’s New lungs

Hi, my name is Susan Duivenvoorden and I am starting this fundraiser for Cecil and Karen Lampie. Cecil is a 67 year old man and until his illness was a very vibrant and hard working, loving man. About 6 months ago he started noticing his joints were swelling and he was in a lot of pain. At that time he was no longer able to work and Karen is only part time employed and has no benefits to fall back on. Cecil has been relatively illness free until these episodes. After seeing many doctors he was finally diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis of the lungs and needed a transplant of both lungs. He has been hospitalized between Whitehorse and Vancouver were he is right now. We thought he was going to have to wait although he was number 1 on list. God heard our prayers and he goes into to surgery at VGH tonight at 8pm.. Karen has been trying to tie up loose ends as she will have to be there 3-4 months. And barring any complications Cecil will be in the hospital for at least 3 weeks. After being discharged Cecil and Karen (Caregiver) will have to remain in Vancouver for a minimum of three months for all follow up tests to ensure he is not rejecting his lungs. Once out of hospital he and Karen are on their own to find accommodations. Karen will have to be there for this whole time and since neither will be working, it will end up being a very stressful time for them as they have absolutely no support in Vancouver. It is going to be a very trying time for both. We live in a isolated town of 400 in Faro, Yukon. Faro is 4 hours away from Whitehorse and a lot further to Vancouver. Karen will be driving to Vancouver which is two days away. Cecil and Karen are wonderful people who would be right there if anyone is in need of assistance and now they are in need of assistance. Karen’s hotel, food and transportation will have to be paid by her and it is very expensive for anyone who ends up in the hospital in Vancouver. So, any monies raised would go to help them with the rooms, meals and accommodation plus monthly bills that still have to be paid.
