Cecily Davis Back at Howard

My name is Cecily Davis . I am a rising sophomore Musical Theatre Major at Howard University from Atlanta Ga. My Gpa  is a 3.83 and I graduated High school with a 4.2 GPA , 28 ACT and 1260 SAT. 


I am a very driven individual which prompted me to attend Howard University in the first place . It has always been a dream of mine to pursue Broadway, so why not get my BFA from the ONLY HBCU that offers the degree.

Graduating high school has been one of my biggest successes as well as obtaining thousands of dollars in scholarships. However Many of the scholarships that I obtained from outside sources I was unable to obtain for a renewal for my sophomore year at Howard.

At the end of March I reached out to all of my Professors to potentially receive a letter of recommendation and was unable to receive one . I recently reached out to my Coordinator on this matter and due to everyone transitioning to online at such short notice , they apologized for not getting back to me . Though the apology was greatly appreciated, it still doesn’t change the fact that I am now at a disadvantage of continuing my education here at Howard. I worked so hard in high school to receive the best grades I could to secure my future and with The lack of one little letter it has all been slipped from my fingers. Granted, there is no guarantee I would’ve received said scholarships, it never hurts to apply.


My capstone scholarship only covers Half of my stay at Howard University leaving me with around $10,000 A semester to pay out of pocket . The $10,000 is due on August 3rd.

I am a hard working Hairstylist working myselfday in and day out trying to come up with the money on my own before August 3rd . I’ve never been much of a beggar, but this is my last resort . Any help would be appreciated.
