Baby Cedar from NICU to HOME
Donation protected
My nephew, Cedar Samuel, is beginning his next season of life - traveling home from being in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 103 days! To say there are major life implications and changes in store for my sister, Nicole, and my brother-in-law, Josh, is an understatement. Below are the details in Josh and Nicole's own words...
On Monday, June 11th, our son, Cedar Samuel Durham, surprised everyone with an early entrance into the world, 2.5 months premature. His pertinent struggle from that day has been chronic lung issues among other "preemie" complications. While we didn't plan on this hand to be dealt in our "cards of life," we have been learning how to "play the hand" through this circumstance.
After the urging of some close family and friends, through deep prayer and discussion, we've humbly decided to open this support/giving portal to share his story.
Some of Cedar's daily cares & needs will include:
- Supplemental G-tube feedings via stomach pump
- Intermittent oxygen support
- Daily medications
- Daily breathing treatments
- Outpatient home care (Respiratory, Occupational & Nursing)
- Frequent visits to his Lung Specialists and Pediatrician
- All of the equipment necessary for his specific care
Regardless, we are asking you to join us daily in prayer, as we know God hears the beckoning of His own. We are asking that God's work continue to be done through our son, as HIS breath continues filling Cedar's lungs.
"Cedar" means "steadfast" in Hebrew. We've seen our little warrior daily living up to his name, and we pray his story beginning be a foundation for his life. This circumstance has definitely been trying but "The Iron Horse," Lou Gehrig, echoed it best:
"I may have had a tough break,
but I have an awful lot to live for."
We are confident that Cedar does, too! AMEN!
WITH LOVE, Josh, Nicole, & Cedar Durham
"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a Cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green." Psalm 92:12-14
