On July 23, this entire section collapsed covering my room in plaster, dust, black mold, and disappointment. I am running out of dry space and can't afford to move out. Unfortunately, my current employer has limited our hours to only 25 hrs a week. This limitation is not Covid-19 related. I have submitted applications for full-time positions, and my mother works part time, and we simply do not have the funds necessary to fix it. I have been trying my hardest to allocate some money specifically for this but due to other necessary items breaking, overheating, and failing my emergency funds are almost out. Saving for this has been a nightmare.
As much as I would like to go back to school, this is my top priority as it will fail sooner rather than later. I do not want to be home when it does. It's a safety matter that isn't a priority for some people and I have been struggling trying to save to fix it myself. My mom has given up hope and is just waiting for it to fall through. We can't live like this.
I could go into the specifics of due negligence by the person who made promises to take matters into his own hands, but seeing as though this will be shared I'm going to be the bigger person and not share details. (Contact me if you would like to know.)
If I could only fix the section where the problem is I would, but I had it inspected by a roofer and they said it was a no-go. The amount of damage is too intense for only the section to be fixed, as the rest of the house's roof is due to fail soon as well. 15k is low on the range of a full roof replacement, but hopefully it is enough to relieve us of this nightmare. I just really wish it hadn't gotten to this point.
If you can spare anything, please. Isaias Just swept through and swept some more shingles off. This is not the way people should live. This house was built in 1958 and has remained the same since then and I'm so fearful every time a storm is predicted to come through. I can only make so much money a week. I'm really not sure how much longer it will be able to hold itself up. If I must beg I'll beg, I just need to make sure my family will be safe.
Thank you for your time,
Maddi.
