This year marks a milestone for the Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project—20 years of empowering Haitian youth through education, advocacy and organizing, leadership development, and cultural preservation. Since 2005, Flanbwayan has been a beacon of hope, providing critical resources, leadership, and advocacy for Haitian immigrant students in New York City.

But our work is far from over. As we celebrate this incredible anniversary, we need your help to ensure Flanbwayan continues thriving for the next 20 years and beyond.

Flanbwayan’s mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that Haitian youth thrive and transform. Through school enrollment, after-school programs, college preparation, and advocacy, we’ve helped thousands of students find their voice, achieve academic success, and build brighter futures.

Why We Need Your Support:

Over the past two decades, Flanbwayan has made an incredible impact, but the need for our services continues to grow. Haitian immigrant students still face systemic barriers in education, from language gaps to unequal access to resources. With your help, we can:

Expand our academic programs to reach more students and families.

Advocate for policy changes that create equitable opportunities for immigrant students.

Expand high school enrollment for students and families.

Provide leadership activities all year round.

Provide cultural dance and drumming in schools and in the community.

$25 provides educational materials for one student.

$50 supports a week of after-school tutoring.

$100 funds a college application fee for a deserving student.

$500 sponsors a student’s participation in our summer learning program.
