Celebrate Bruce Ramey's Life: Help with Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
My father, Bruce Ramey, passed away on July 29, 2024. He dedicated his life to helping others. This GoFundMe is to help pay for his funeral service and celebration of life.

In August of 2019, Bruce was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy and was no longer able to work due to paralysis in half his face and the resulting damage to his eye causing permanent vision loss. In early 2020, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and Parkinson's Disease. A third of one lung was removed in May 2020 and thankfully his cancer did not return. His Parkinson's Disease advanced fairly quickly to the point of needing to move to long-term care in October 2023 as we were no longer able to care for him at home.

My dad's unexpected retirement and illness drained their savings. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

BRUCE ROGER RAMEY

Bruce Roger Ramey, 71, of Tacoma, WA, passed into eternal rest on July 29, 2024, in Poulsbo, WA. Born on January 7, 1953, Bruce was a cherished member of his community, renowned for his unwavering commitment to public service and volunteer work. In the 1980s and 1990s, he generously gave his time as a volunteer fire lieutenant at Station 52 in Silverdale. His service extended to the Kitsap County unit of Washington Explorer Search and Rescue, which he joined in 1994. He held the position of Chairman of the board for a significant portion of his 25-year tenure. He was also instrumental in founding Kitsap County Search Dogs, the county's first search group specializing in canine assistance.

Bruce's professional life was largely spent in the construction industry, where he was the proprietor of Ramey Contracting. His commitment to the welfare of his community was further exemplified by his role on the Incident Command team with the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management. A proud alumnus of Woodrow Wilson High School and the University of Puget Sound, Bruce formed meaningful and enduring relationships throughout his life.

Bruce leaves behind his wife, Jean Ramey; children, Kirstin (KC) Pearson and Michael Ramey; siblings, Sandi Hanson and Doug Ramey; and grandchildren, Megan Pearson and Eisen Ramey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Olga Ramey; his infant brother, Michael Ramey; and his loyal search dogs, Sampson and Indiana.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Sunday, September 8th, at the Eagle's Nest Community Building, 1195 NW Fairgrounds Road, Bremerton, WA 98311. The doors will open at 4:30 pm. The event will be a potluck open to all who wish to attend.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the costs of the funeral services and the Celebration of Life through this GoFundMe page. Contributions may also be made to Washington Explorer Search and Rescue, Kitsap County Unit, as a tribute to his passionate involvement with the organization.

The Mountain View Funeral Home of Tacoma, WA, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Bruce's legacy of community service and the warmth of his spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
