Help Us Honor the Life and Legacy of Carin A. Ortiz

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Carin A. Ortiz of Malden, who left this world on December 30, 2024, at the age of 44. After a fierce and inspiring battle with breast cancer, Carin passed away surrounded by the family and friends she loved so deeply and who cherished her in return.

Carin was a devoted mother to her three daughters—Jada, Gabriella, and Korra—and the fiancée of Michael Lemus, her steadfast partner and rock. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the power of family. Her daughters were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into creating beautiful, lasting memories with them.

Born on October 30, 1980, in Concord, MA, Carin grew up in Somerville, where her vibrant energy and magnetic personality made her unforgettable to everyone she met. A graduate of Somerville High School in 1999, Carin was a woman of passion and unique style—she adored butterflies, the color purple, and cheetah prints that reflected her bold spirit. Known for her cheesecake cookies and her ability to quote every line of Selena, Carin also loved binge-watching Friends and sharing laughter with those closest to her.

Carin’s ability to love deeply and unconditionally was unmatched. As a mother, partner, sister, daughter, and friend, she was a source of strength and compassion for everyone in her life. Her laughter filled rooms, her words uplifted hearts, and her presence brought light even in the darkest times.

Her passing leaves an immense void, but her memory and legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. We are determined to celebrate her life in a way that honors the incredible person she was.

We are reaching out to ask for your support in covering the funeral and memorial expenses for Carin. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the financial burden on her family during this unimaginably difficult time. Your generosity will ensure that her daughters and loved ones can focus on grieving and celebrating the remarkable woman Carin was.

Carin is survived by her fiancée, Michael Lemus; her beloved daughters, Jada, Gabriella, and Korra; her mother, Jacqueline M. (Saverse); her siblings, Nicole Ortiz and her partner Shon McHugh, and Yolanda Ortiz and her husband Stephen Costello. She was also predeceased by her loving brother Casey, with whom she is now reunited. She was a cherished aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many, and leaves behind a devoted dog, Roxie.

Please consider donating to this campaign and sharing it with others. Together, we can give Carin the beautiful farewell she deserves and honor the love and joy she brought to the world. Thank you for helping us keep her memory alive.
