Celebrate Debbie Overton's Life

Please join us in celebrating and remembering the life of Debra (Debbie) Overton. Debbie passed away unexpectedly on October 14th, 2024, after fighting COVID-19, pneumonia, and a bacterial infection simultaneously. She led a simple life, surrounding herself with family and friends. She was always there if someone needed help; it didn't matter if they were related.
Debbie was raised by her mother and father, EJ and Helen Overton (who preceded her in death), in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the third of four children: Maryann Fagan, Judy Matthews (preceded in death), and David Overton. She leaves behind her only daughter, Julie Devaney, and Julie's husband, Richard, and her three grandchildren, Jonathan, Chloe, and Kaleb. She also leaves ten nieces and nephews and dozens of great-nieces and great-nephews—all of whom she loved and adored.
Upon receiving her GED, Debbie worked for several department stores until she joined the Fort Worth Housing Authority in 1986. She worked for the housing authority for twenty-five years as a maintenance worker and housing inspector. She retired from the housing authority on December 19th, 2011. She kept up with her friends and co-workers long after she left the housing authority, including Hershel, Hezzie, Suzi, and Oscar.
Debbie never met a stranger. She would talk to anyone, anywhere. This is how she made countless number of other friends that walked with her in life. Friends like Linda, Cathy, Sandy, Jeanne, and Susan.
Services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. Date is yet to be determined.
