Scholarship Fund to Celebrate Dr. Woo Jeon's Life & Legacy
Donation protected
With grieving hearts, we collect words of remembrance as an attempt to honor who Dr. Woo Jeon was and meant to so many. It is difficult to find the right words to describe someone as special as him. He was a professor, a colleague, a mentor, a leader, a deacon, a friend, a brother, a son, a husband, and for us, a father.
While all passings and goodbyes are difficult, his sudden and unexpected death compounds the grief and loss we hold. Frankly, we are heartbroken and devastated. But, he would have wanted us to move through the obvious heaviness of this moment by celebrating the incredible life he lived and to apply his teachings towards the lives we have ahead of us. He lived fully, wholly and taught us how to do the same.
Many of you know that Dr. Woo Jeon was a highly respected, accomplished man. But perhaps, his biggest life accomplishment in his own eyes may have been in the gift and privilege of caring for his family. He was a ferociously proud husband and father of 4 daughters with a steadfast love for his family. His one wish for us was to find our own path towards happiness and success and he believed it was his duty to support us along our journeys. He was a selfless man who worked tirelessly and made countless sacrifices while continuously centering the needs of his family and loving community before his own.
Our father’s legacy isn't only about the big moments or the many accomplishments he had over the years. It includes the quiet, subtle, everyday ways he showed unconditional love and care. Although he is no longer here with us in the living form as we once knew, in everlasting remembrance, we miss him, we love him, and we carry him with us everyday.
Thank you for holding our hearts in yours. Dr. Woo Jeon was a man who was fortunate to have found his vocation and purpose in life, in raising his family and in the intersection of his passion and talent in the art of teaching and in mathematics.
As a man of service and leadership, we hope to honor his legacy by setting up a scholarship fund with the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay where he served for over 20 years as a Professor and most recently as Chair of Mathematics and Statistics. Your donations will support our efforts to do so, and continue his rippling impact in giving back to others in years to come.
