Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved grandfather, father, brother, uncle and friend. James Dale Altman Born on December 5, 1954, in El Paso, Texas. He left us on his 70th birthday. A Vietnam veteran, a devoted father of two sons; James and Erick, and a man of unwavering spirit. His legacy of love, resilience, and dedication lives on in all who knew him.
Though not the youngest of his family, he was a true mama’s boy, deeply devoted to his late mother, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his two sons; James and Erick, his daughter in-law Norma, his brothers, Wayne and David, his mana Linda, and his four grandchildren: Alexandra, Ruben, Joseph, and Jason. Family was everything to him, and his connection extended to 32 first cousins and many other relatives.
Our grandfather embraced the cowboy lifestyle and the freedom of raising and riding his horses, embodying the rugged spirit of the West. A proud Angeleno, he spent most of his life in West Los Angeles and cheered passionately for his favorite teams: the Rams, Dodgers, Lakers, and Kings. Twice married and twice divorced, he experienced love and heartbreak with profound depth, always placing his family at the heart of his world.
He passed away peacefully in his home in Alhambra, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived.
As a Vietnam veteran, he served his country with honor, courage, and sacrifice and was extremely proud of being an American.
Now, we seek to honor him with the dignity and respect he so deeply deserves.
We are asking for your support to help cover the costs of his funeral and burial. These funds will ensure he is laid to rest with the care, befitting his life of service, love, and devotion. Any additional contributions will go toward honoring his memory in meaningful ways, including donations to veterans' organizations that reflect his commitment to service.
No donation is too small, and every contribution will help us honor the life of a remarkable man who gave so much to his family, friends, and community. If you’re unable to donate, please share this campaign to help us reach others who may wish to contribute.
Thank you for your love, kindness, and support during this difficult time. Let’s come together to celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many and ensure his memory lives on.
With love and gratitude,
The Altman Family
