Donation protected
Donate to the 100th birthday of American artist and revolutionary James Arthur Baldwin (August 2, 1924 - December 1, 1987)!
The Saturday Free School for Philosophy and Black Liberation in partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Education, Philosophy, and Religion Department will be honoring James Baldwin with a three-day celebration this August.
The celebration will consist of showings of the Saturday Free School's newly curated documentary and art exhibit on Baldwin and the Black Freedom Struggle. It will also consist of an Afro-Asiatic peace concert with artists such as Palestinian oud instrumentalist Fuad Foty, jazz ensemble Bobby Zankel & The Wonderful Warriors of Sound, Philadelphia Sound pianist Alfie Pollitt, folk singer Osiris Wildfire and African drummer Zumbi Soweto. Stay up to date at https://www.facebook.com/TheSaturdayFreeSchool.
All events will be open and free to the public. Contribute as you are able to make possible the sharing of Baldwin's life and ideas for a more democratic, just, and loving America. Funds will go towards our performers, refreshments, and promotional fliers. You can also contribute via Venmo (@aliceyx71) or Cash App ($aliceyx71).
