Celebrate Jimmy B's Legacy: Help with Memorial
Donation protected
James Burl Smith "Jimmy B" was born March 22, 1957 in Bakersfield California. Jimmy passed on October 22, 2024. He was active competing in Little Britches Rodeo Association, Gene Clark Jr Rodeo Association, IPRA, and later USTRC. In 1970, when he was 14 years old, his Dad took him to Las Vegas, NV to compete in a rodeo. Hollywood scouts were looking for young boys that could ride a horse, rope, and have the skills that regular actors couldn't do. After spotting Jimmy they recruited him as the stunt double for ‘Fats’ in the movie Cowboys with John Wayne. He could also ride saddle bronc, though he didn't like it. Jimmy also roped calves, steers, and also did bull dogging. He also competed in the Gene Clark Jr Rodeo Association where he rode steers, competed in calf roping, team roping, and rode bulls. Competing in Jr Rodeos, he dominated the calf roping. Competitors would say, “we might as well leave. Jimmy B is here". Yes he was that good. In the IPRA he won rodeos with partners Shawn Howell, 5 X PRCA team roping Champion Leo Camarillo, and Dave Moreno. USTRC had Jimmy looking for a better horse. His Dad found Blue, a flea bitten gray, stocky build Quarter horse. Jimmy tuned him up and entered the #9 Shoot Out with Bucky Harris. They came from behind and won the roping. He was so proud of that win. He had Blue, a championship saddle and buckle that showed his desire to finally win a championship. Yes, we've lost a champion that had a "golden arm". A few years before Jimmy passed he became a grandpa and loved the title. Jimmy will be missed and was loved by so many.
This gofundme has been set up to help with the cremation and memorial ceremony costs. If you are able to donate to help make things financially easier on the family, thank you.
Jimmy leaves behind his sons Cory Smith from Kansas and Wade Smith from Texas, his grandson Karson Smith and many more family.
