Honoring Melinda Pleasant's Life Through Art

Donation protected
In the loving memory of Melinda Pleasant, Pleasant Art will honor her vision in Art, with unconditional passion, love, and unique
creativity.

Melinda Pleasant was born on Jan 14, 1958, and was in pursuit of her love for art until her last breath on August 2, 2024. Being my mother, Melinda stayed stylish and wore many hats in fashion, fulfilling many roles throughout her life, her pride and joy, being a phenomenal artist. Leaving a legacy using colors to express her love, hate, and all in between on countless canvases, leaving many masterpieces behind, a piece of her that will never fade, Melinda Pleasant will always be remembered by her smile, passion in art, and matching outfits from head to toe.

Art has always been a part of my life, credit due to my mother. I can remember the very first art lesson in coloring. Outline first, then color, staying in the lines. My mom had a way to introduce Art to anyone, in such a way that was gravitating and welcoming, getting anyone to sit down and color in any one of her coloring books, that she had in abundance.

My mother's smile was contagious. The way she carried herself left most in awe. Art was her life, she lived it, she wore it and taught others how to discover their artistic self. What a way to leave a remarkable legacy in this world. Melinda will truly be missed.

Melinda was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017, and although the doctors were awestruck by her resilience and spirit to fight, stating she had one of the most strongest bodies and spirits, surpassing life expectancy multiple times, with faith in God she lived 8.5 years fighting cancer.

Despite being in pain, you could never see it on her face, always in uplifting spirits, grateful for each day, Melinda stayed strong in faith, solely depending on God's mercy to guide her through the battlefield to fight cancer. My mother always taught me to keep God first, stay steadfast in prayer, and stay hopeful when facing adversity, teaching me that giving my worries to God, means no worries at all.

Although, I rather her be here with us, I know she's resting with God. No pain, and No worries.

If I could share one of the greatest gifts my mother left is the spirit of, Selflessness. Always giving, sacrificing her time for the wellbeing of others. She bore 7 children, leaving behind 13 grandchildren but she was "momma" to many family, touching so many lives with her outgoing personality, sense of humor, her Pleasant art and her unconditional love.

  • In honor of Melinda Pleasant, "let art be your highest level of hope, putting your faith in God."
