Roger Lynn Bell
July 25, 1953 – March 15, 2025
Roger Lynn Bell, 71, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Regency Hospital of Toledo in Oregon, Ohio.
Born on July 25, 1953, in Napoleon, Ohio, Roger was the beloved son of Marion and Dorthy (Leininger) Bell. He dedicated his career to hard work and craftsmanship, retiring after many years as a skilled millwright at Johns Manville. In addition to his career, Roger was a proud entrepreneur, owning and operating his successful Bell Excavating business, which will be carried on by the next generation, ensuring that his passion and dedication live on.
Known for his resourcefulness and ingenuity, Roger earned many nicknames, including “MacGyver,” “Buckwheat,” and “Tinker Bell.” He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying gardening, salmon and walleye fishing, and always finding something to tinker with. He loved good food, dining out, and enjoying a well-made lime margarita on the rocks, especially by a bonfire.
Roger’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving children, Renee Bell, Shanelle Bell, Tabitha Bell Wood, and Christina Bell; nine cherished grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Bell; his grandson, Justice Chapa; and his granddaughter, Ryleigh Wood.
Roger’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Mercy St. Vincent’s Hospital and Regency Hospital of Toledo.
Roger will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In honoring Roger’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to help cover the expenses for Roger’s headstone. Your support is deeply appreciated.
