Tony DeMicoli: Celebrating Nearly 50 Years of Portland Music

For nearly five decades, Tony DeMicoli has been the beating heart of Portland's vibrant music scene. To honor his incredible contributions, we're throwing a grand celebration - a birthday bash that promises to be as unforgettable as the countless nights of music Tony has given us over the years.

Born in Malta and raised in Brooklyn, Tony became a driving force in Portland's music landscape. His creative energy and passion breathed life into renowned venues like the Long Goodbye, Luis' La Bamba, and most notably, the legendary Key Largo.

Key Largo, nestled under the Burnside Bridge, was Portland's music epicenter for 15 years. Tony's dedication brought an impressive array of local, regional, and international acts to its stage seven nights a week. From Curtis Salgado and the Paul deLay Band to Etta James, Buddy Guy, and John Lee Hooker, Key Largo became a launchpad for countless careers and a must-play venue for established artists.

Tony's impact extended far beyond Key Largo. He ran a production company, managed entertainment for the Portland Rose Festival, and played crucial roles in events like the Waterfront Blues Festival. As a founding member and long-time President of the Portland Music Association, Tony was instrumental in producing Portland's popular Mayor's Ball (1985 - 1992), bringing national recording industry attention to our city's rich, creative live music community.

Join the Celebration!

We invite you to be part of this special event honoring Tony's legacy. Your participation, whether through attending the bash or contributing a gift here, will be a testament to Tony's impact on our musical community.

While this is a celebration and Key Largo reunion and not officially a fundraiser, any proceeds from ticket sales or gifts will support Tony and his family, helping to ease some of the challenges they currently face.

Help us spread the word! Share news of this celebration on your social media platforms using #CelebrateTonyDeMicoli. By sharing, you're helping ensure that everyone whose life has been touched by Tony's contributions can join in honoring him. Together, we can create a night that truly captures the spirit of the vibrant musical culture Tony has fostered for half a century.

Let's come together to celebrate Tony DeMicoli - a true Portland music legend! November 3, 2024, 4:00 pm-9:00 pm, Barrel Room (the old Key Largo space!) 120 NW Couch St., Portland, OR 97209 and give gifts here! Thank you. Tickets for the show: https://www.barrelroompdx.com/shows/282851.
