Celebrating Alicia Martinez's Life

Donation protected
Mi abuelita, my grandmother, Alicia Martinez, was born in Oaxaca, Mexico but raised in Texcoco, Mexico. She was a mother of 5 children, a wife, a grandmother to many grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to another few. She was a hardworking woman who instilled in her children to push through adversity and that there was always another day ahead. She was strong but also caring. She was smart, knowledgeable, and beautiful inside and out.

She loved going to the tiendita near her house and grabbing a nice cold coke, the one in the bottle. She'd get excited just to have a taste. It was her little "cokita". She loved telling stories about our ancestors and her life growing up. She laughed whenever someone said a funny joke, but an actually funny one, not just a lame one. She liked coloring books and watching novelas. She was very wise and made sure to pass down the wisdom to her family.

She was strong even when she sat in the hospital for more than three years. She was strong even after having surgery. She was strong even after you couldn't hear her voice. She was strong even after we had to say goodbye to go back home. She was strong even when we might not have been. She was the rock to our family and will now get to be our angel forever.
