Celebrating Allen Edelist

Donazione protetta
Too soon, too fast, and already shining on, Allen Edelist passed away on May 16, 2018. In life, Allen was many things to a global audience of friends, family, and fellow Palers. This memorial fund is dedicated to assist his family – his loving wife, Pat, and daughter Sydney – as they find their bearings during this difficult time. As Allen’s generosity was unmatched during his lifetime, so, too, we are grateful for your contribution in any amount.

Prolific only scratches the surface of our beloved Al. He lived life passionately with all of his person and all of his heart. He had an infectious enthusiasm for life and a dry-witted humor that could challenge any Brit. Al was known for his warmth and unyielding generosity, the type of kindness that stretched beyond his own ways and means. A global traveler, a stellar photographer, and cigar aficionado, Al knew how to enjoy life with the kind of zeal many only hope to achieve.

For his wife, Pat, a chance encounter at a youth group during her last year in high school led to a lifetime partnership with an adoring husband; Pat and Al would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 30th this year. To his children, Al was the father whose steadfast support helped them achieve success, including Sydney’s recent college graduation and Adrian’s robust stylist career. Sydney and Adrian were the loves of Al’s life, and his heart only grew bigger when his son-in-law, Scott, joined the family two years ago.

Friends knew Al from his avid pursuits. He tried never to miss a King’s games and worked tirelessly in support of his business. But many of those who knew Al called him “One Eye". A Procoholic, Allen represented what it meant to be a Paler in true fandom of Procol Harum. He spent years traveling with the band, enchanting those he met with his humor and kindness.

Dearest Al, we miss you now and every day.

In the words of Procol Harum,

We sailed for parts unknown to man, where ships come home to die

No lofty peak, nor fortress bold, could match our captain's eye

Upon the seventh seasick day we made our port of call

A sand so white, and sea so blue, no mortal place at all ----- “A Salty Dog”

Thank you for reading and celebrating Al’s memory with your generous support.
