Celebrating Austin's Spirit with a Scholarship

Austin Daniel Stanek, of Island Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 27, 2024, just a few days shy of his 25th birthday.

Austin graduated from Wauconda High School in 2018. Athletic to his core, he loved playing baseball and basketball as a kid and after high school, diving into sand volleyball and golf. He loved the competition, but more than that, he loved the people. Austin had a knack for bringing others together, whether they were teammates or just friends hanging out. His easygoing nature made everyone feel welcome, and it was impossible to be around him without feeling his positive energy.

In lieu of flowers, the family, friends and community are setting up a special scholarship in memory of Austin.
