Celebrating the Life of Christina Fung

Donation protected
Christina Fung passed away on November 5, 2021, after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer in May 2021. We are raising funds to help support her family with any medical or funeral costs as they navigate this very difficult time.

Christina was a thoughtful and loving daughter, girlfriend, friend, and colleague, and is already dearly missed by everyone who had the fortune of knowing her. Everyone that knew Christina knew what joy in human form looked like and we hope that this is one way we are able to honor her memory.

Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are so very thankful for every donation during this challenging time.

Obituary:

Christina Fung, age 29, entered eternal rest on Friday, November 5, 2021, in her childhood home in the Lower East Side due to complications of Bile Duct Cancer diagnosed back in May. She was surrounded by the loving affection and care of her parents as well as loved ones.

She was born in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan, New York to mother Dorie Quan & father Ling Wai Fung on May 8, 1992.

In 2010, she graduated from the High School of Economics & Finance. In 2014, she enrolled in her father’s Alma Mater, the New York City College of Technology, into the Hospitality Management department. It was there where she spent her fondest school days as her vivacious spirit of hospitality, love of world cultures, and genuine respect for others all blossomed under the support and encouragement of her professors and classmates. In 2016, she studied abroad in Paris, France with the Thomas Ahrens International Work/Study Program. It was her absolute most cherished memory of her time at City Tech. Memories of the trip gave her joy, made her smile, and brought her comfort even during her most final recollections.

In that same year, she began her proudest work for the iMentor organization, a non-profit that builds mentoring relationships that empower first generation students to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Amongst her many talents, it was her leadership skills that carried her forward throughout five promotions within the next three years at iMentor. She was best known for her enthusiasm in guiding high schoolers towards her beloved City Tech.

She graduated from the New York City College of Technology in 2017 and in the following year, 2018, she obtained her bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts & Science from the Excelsior College. In 2021, she enrolled into the Masters in Occupational Therapy program of Long Island University.

Some of her favorite quotes are:
“Yesterday's joy will become today's sadness, yet today's sadness will grow into tomorrow's joy.”
-Og Mandino

“I used to think the way to be strong was to be tough, and the. way to be independent was to not need anyone. But the more  vulnerable you are, the softer you are. The more you allow  people into your life and into your heart, the happier you are and the more valuable you are to other people.”
- Portia Degeneres

“It's the imperfections in life, you should cherish because that's what makes life perfect in every way”
