Supporting Russell Newcombe's Wife Cher and Bop Who's Sick

Hello. My name is Cher Newcombe-White. I have opened this page because some very kind folks contacted me wanting to support me and so I chose this trustworthy platform to enable those kind gestures. As you know I lost the love of my life and husband of 12 years, Dr Russell Newcombe, on April 4th, 2024 after a very brief fight with lung cancer brought on by a longer fight with COPD and a recent Covid infection. His death was both tragic and unforeseen as we only got the diagnosis 14 days before he passed away. The depth of my grief cannot be properly expressed and I continue to struggle with his untimely loss every moment of each day.

This page was set up to help me with the myriad costs of getting myself and our dear cat, Bop, back to Canada safely and with the means to begin our lives over again, without our beloved Russ (cat papa extraordinaire), from ground zero with no financial support or means. Now everything has become so much worse because Bop-Cat has become very ill with a giant abscess that has required emergency vet care and meds. Vet care is still required and it's likely even more meds will be required. I don't have an exact figure for the costs because they're ongoing. And, most sad of all, she may be too sick to travel with me to Canada at the end of this month and so I will have truly lost my "Happy Cat Family" with both Russ and Bop lost to me. Luckily, if this is the case, I've got the most amazing family who live right downstairs who are like family to me and have agreed to care for Bop.

The money already raised has been sent to Canada to enable my sister to begin the process of renting me a flat and kipping it out with the basic necessities. Moreover, as I am not registered for anything in Canada, I will not be able to access any government assistance upon arrival. I require prescription meds that will not be covered so that is another substantial cost. In addition, I require several very important medical tests as soon as possible after arriving and will likely have to pay for these as well. Finally, without a source of income, these funds will be required to cover the basic costs of living for at least 6 - 8 weeks as I try to secure employment and get back into the system.

Thank you to everyone who has been so amazingly kind and supportive during what has become an absolute nightmare of a life that I'm living. Losing Russ has devastated me and now watching our precious cat Bop go through this horror story, while she is also mourning the loss of her papa - has brought me to a point of absolute despair and anguish. Thank you again for whatever support you can lend - and if, like me, you can only send good karma and well-wishes, they are appreciated beyond belief.
