Celebrating the life and legacy of Coach Gittens

The alumni of Samuel J Tilden High School of Brooklyn, NY, have started a Gofundme as a memorial to support the life and legacy of Terrence Gittens class of 1984. Terrence was a stellar athlete in HS, where he played quarterback for the mighty Blue Devils. After his playing days were done, he turned his talents to coaching. Beginning with the Brooklyn Skyhawks in the Pop Warner league, then moving on to the High School ranks within the Public School Athletic League (PSAL) in Brooklyn. After many seasons of mentoring young athletes in the Big Apple, Coach Gittens relocated to the Tarheel state of North Carolina. He coached at several High schools in NC, including Pinecrest, Cox Mill in Concord, NC, and Parkwood HS in Union County, NC. Coach Terrence Gittens passed unexpectedly on Friday, April 8, 2022. He leaves behind to mourn his passing a loving daughter and son and a host of former colleagues, schoolmates, teammates, parents, and players. His daughter, a college student, will continue to stay in the home in NC. This page aims to provide enough financial resources for his daughter not to worry about a mortgage. I know as a community, we can do that for Coach Gittens; let's get it done!
