Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Richard Tripp
We’re raising funds to honor the life of Richard Tripp, a beloved father, friend, and community mentor who left an unforgettable impact on those around him. Richard was a man of passion, generosity, and resilience, and we want to give him the heartfelt celebration he deserves.
Richard’s Journey
Richard was born on March 15, 1951, in Long Beach, California, before moving to Tustin in 1959. Throughout his life, he found joy in sports, especially tennis—a love he carried through college at the University of Redlands, where he met the love of his life and future wife. As a two-time All-American on the tennis team, Richard was cheered on by his partner, who stood by him on and off the court, forming a bond that lasted a lifetime. After they married, Richard pursued a career as a tennis pro before becoming a financial planner, providing for his family and becoming a dedicated father to his son, Steven.
A Legacy of Giving
After facing health challenges in the mid-2000s, Richard transitioned from his financial career, but his desire to make a difference only grew. As a Big Brother mentor, he formed a close bond with a young man named Julio, helping him overcome obstacles and succeed in school. In 2012, Richard was honored as California's Big Brother of the Year, a testament to his kindness, selflessness, and dedication to lifting others.
A Final Tribute
Richard’s later years were marked by the loss of his wife in 2016, and he and Steven moved to Las Vegas to make a fresh start. Together, they faced many challenges, and despite Richard’s heart condition, Steven has been a devoted caretaker. However, the family’s financial constraints have placed a burden on their ability to properly honor Richard’s life.
We invite anyone who knew Richard or whose life he touched to contribute to his memorial. Your support will allow us to celebrate his life and recognize his kindness, generosity, and devotion.
