Celebrating the life of Janie "Grammy" Rosenberger

Hello everyone! I'm Karen "Kat," the youngest daughter of Janie Rosenberger.
On December 17, 2024, at 4:44 AM, Mom took her last breath at home with my sister Joanne and me holding her hands. Earlier in the evening, she was surrounded by all of her grandchildren at the same time for the first time in over 15 years, Bridgett, Carson, Jay, Matt, Andrew, Chioma, Justin, and Sarah. We all laughed, cried, and shared past stories as mom slipped further and further away.
Mom was a fighter; there was no doubt of that. She beat both ovarian and breast cancer and lived with both MS and Myasthenia Gravis, and, in the end, the pain that goes along with them. She faced many struggles throughout her life, the greatest of which was our dad's suicide in 1988. She was vibrant, feisty, and unstoppable in her younger years. Mom was the first female police officer in Johnson County, KS, and true to her nature, it is easy to envision her 5'2" frame yanking a drunkard out of a bar on a Friday night in the 1970's. Her next adventure was as an EMT in the Emergency Room at Shawnee Mission Hospital, working the midnight shift to be home during the day if Joanne and I needed to come home from school.
Mom's life was never dull. She made cross-country trips from California to Florida when I was sick, and my husband was overseas. She gave up a quiet retirement life to join Joanne, Jay, Andrew, and Justin's household. Mom, or "Grammy," as everyone knew her, volunteered at the kids' schools and was a regular chauffeur for the kids to and from soccer practice. She is also remembered for making 100 poodle skirts for the elementary school musical in which Bridgett, Carson, and Jay all performed.
I share this glimpse of Mom's "Grammy's" life with you as I ask for assistance covering her final expenses. Mom went on disability at an early age as a result of her many medical conditions and was unable to amass a retirement account, savings, or obtain affordable life insurance.
Mom gave so much of herself to her family, community, and parish; we thank you for doing the same for her in whatever way you can.
