Celebrating the Life of Moise Louis

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother, Moise Louis. We are extremely saddened by this news, and it is with heavy hearts that we reach out for help during this time. Moise was not only a brother to us; he was a son, he was a friend, and he was a man of great compassion and love for others. He was real, uncut and raw. That was Moise.

A little bit of background about Moise:

Born in April of 1989, Moise was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He migrated to the United States (Takoma Park, MD) with his two brothers, Juan and Nick, in the Fall of 2002. Moise attended Montgomery Blair High School, where he graduated in 2008. While in the States, Moise grew loved and respected by many. He was stylish. He was funny. He was a jokester. He had the biggest heart and the biggest smile. He lit up any room he walked in. That was Moise.

Unfortunately, in 2010, Moise got caught up in issues that resulted in his almost 13-year incarceration. Through that time, Moise devoted his life to self-reflection, healing and rehabilitation. He spoke with his family and friends often, as a form of motivation. He wrote beautiful poems. He drew pictures (a beautiful hidden skill of his). He read books that helped to nurture his mind. With the help of his family and friends, Moise was granted an appeal in August of 2022, granting him a potential early release. However, before he could make it out, he was found unresponsive in his cell with multiple injuries on August 7, 2023. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

This was very sudden and we are completely heartbroken over the death of our brother. At this time, we are asking for donations to bury Moise the way he would have wanted. Any amount is immensely appreciated. We are so thankful to everyone who has reached out and has been a part of Moise's village. He will be greatly missed, and we will continue to live on in his remembrance.
