taking homemade on the road!

Our queer and trans visibility is more important than ever, and our queer and trans communion is the antidote for the hate and isolation they seek to sew.
home//made : documenting trans, non-binary and butch parents is 5 years strong and is ready to hit the road with a 41 photograph show! Investing in this home//made tour is about being a part of something that is alive! unapologetic! and true! It is about what happens when people are present to one and other in a room with out screens and tech companies influence, about the truth and storytelling power of a photograph - and what it means to our queer and trans selves to see and be seen. It is about creating event after event of everything these goons want us to feel alone and shameful about — and to love on it wildly and freely TOGETHER.

$10,000 will cover the cost of printing our gallery quality show on travel friendly fabric, as well as the necessary hanging materials. (Some of the prints are as large as 6 feet tall — as we are here to TAKE UP SPACE!) On May 10, 2025 in Oakland, California at the 2025 Queer Family Celebration home//made will have its opening show! And with another just weeks a part in Portland, Oregon home//made will have begun its tour that is currently booked out as far as Fall 2026 with 9 colleges and universities and 11 public sites (lgbtq centers, dyke nights and libraries) throughout the country. Investing in this show catalyzes countless conversations and connections lifting up queer and trans identities and our stories. Each event will be tailored to the queer and trans community of that region, partnering with other artists and local service providers to come together and celebrate what is happening on the ground in that area. More than an art show, these community events will strengthen networks and use joy as an act of resistance, drawing on our communities history of liberation in the face of oppression.

The years to come will be scary and cruel, there is no question. And I would be lying if I said I wasn’t intimated to go into many regions around the country to show this work. But then again, that is exactly what they want. They want us to shrink back, become smaller and less connected. home//made was created on the belief that telling our stories, and feeling heard and seen is medicine. This was true when the project began, and it is even more true now.

I am so grateful for the love and support of home//made since day one, this project is built on the strength of our community and friends. In every way, we must keep going.
