Celebrating Walter

Hi, I’m Christine (Schmidt) Gordon, Walt’s sister. Even while writing this I still can’t believe it. Walt passed suddenly yesterday of a massive heart attack. He was battling renal cell carcinoma and it seems the treatment was worse than the disease. He went to the cardiologist for a routine stress test and collapsed in heart failure.

Walt was such a good man. He loved his family so deeply especially his soulmate Maria. Walt would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Cooking for others was a passion that brought him joy and he was a great cook!

Walt lived a very modest life and his blindness hindered his ability to make a sufficient living. Unfortunately his small disability check is just a little too high for him to qualify for NJ state burial assistance.

We are hoping to celebrate Walt’s life with a memorial of love and remembrance. Any help from friends and family would go directly toward Walter’s final expenses. His wishes were to be cremated and I know he would love the idea of family and friends coming together in celebration of his time with us!
