Celebration of Ameia Ferguson's Life
Donation protected
Many of you are familiar with my mom's story. For those who aren't, here's a quick recap. This time two years ago, she was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. After countless hours of chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy, we celebrated. To be honest, she had kicked that cancer's ass. At Ellis, they grew to know and love her strength, spirit and resilience. She became MUHealthCare's very own Wonder Woman. She was featured in an article written by MUHealth Care, and had some news coverage.
In September, doctors found some abnormal cells in her blood. It was found that she had a rare and aggressive form of leukemia called multiple myeloma. They began chemotherapy immediately at Ellis. Unfortunately, she lost her battle to this cancer less than six months later.
She meant the world to us. She was our source of strength. If my mom could go through this twice, we know that we can do anything. My mom was and still is a fighter. She fought. Her love, soul and energy will continue on and she will be with us forever.
At this time, we are asking for donations in order to cover the memorial service and associated costs that will be coming up. We do not have the specifics for the ceremony yet, but we will update this post as we figure those things out.
As her daughters, it is one of the hardest things that we will have to go through, but, knowing that she was genuinely loved and cared for has been so very helpful. Thank you all so much for your words of kindness and support through this, it means so much to me and my family.
