Celebration of Joann's Life and Legacy

It brings me with great sadness and a broken heart to announce the passing of my mother, Joann Alice Baker. She went to heaven on Friday December 13, 2024 at 7:06pm. Not only was she a mom, she was a wife, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and the best grandma to many grandchildren. Mom was a retired LVN for 40yrs. and specialized in geriatric care. Her love and passion for the elderly was so dynamic.
Mom retired early when she had breast cancer. Decided she just couldn't stay away from nursing so decided to go back to Caregiving, which led to her breaking her back and wrist a few years ago. Unfortunately she continued to decline in health.
Six months ago mom started to feel nauseous and sicker as weeks went by. After a year off of work taking care of mom, I had to go back to work 3 months ago, worst feeling. During those months I noticed mom was progressively loosing weight. After numerous appointment, nothing was found and I feel helpless as all they did was changed medicines and claimed her mind loss was age!
Than mom stopped walking, now I'm begging for Skilled Nursing, Rehab- Something- INSURANCE SUCKS! One week before mom's passing, mom was not recognizing her home and other things- an ambulance was called. In the ER a mark was found on her lung.- Hospital ready to send her home!? Nope I refused and said my mom needs help. My dad can't take care of her alone, he's elderly too. Then told biopsy needed and than she's too weak for surgery so she'll need to go on hospice. Same day she went in for a routine biopsy, her lung collapsed. Driving to my mom when I heard she was in ICU, I missed her by 20 minutes. She had already passed!
Not at all expected, thought we had more time. Time is precious, My mom was my everything! She deserves everything because she loved people, people loved her. This is why we are reaching out for your help. Mom worked all her life and deserved to be celebrated.
God Bless you All.
