Celebration of Life for Big Russ Cunningham

We are posting this GoFundMe for our wonderful friend Russ Cunningham, or Big Russ for those who knew him best. Big Russ suffered from a severe stroke on October 23rd, and tragically passed on Monday, November 4th, 2024. He was surrounded by his many friends and family. He was 57 years young.

Russ was born and raised in Vallejo,Ca. He attended Pennycook Elementary, Springstown Junior High, and a graduate of Hogan High School class of 1985. His family is very well known in Vallejo. His Father John Cunningham Jr. served on the Vallejo City Council and was Vice Mayor for several years in the 1970’s. He also owned and operated 2 J’s pharmacy in town for many years. And, founder of our local Cunningham Pool. His mother Ann was very active in many of our local clubs and associations. Donating her time to many charities along with helping to raise the Cunningham-Trochet hoard. He has many siblings. Russ was raised with compassion, humor, kindness, and love. And he shared all of it with his family and friends.

Russ loved music and was a very accomplished guitarist. He was a huge sports fan, following all of the Bay Area teams, especially the 49ers and Giants. Russ was a social butterfly. He loved to visit friends, play in our weekly poker game, and played in numerous fantasy leagues. Thursday nights were for his work colleagues at After Hours Bar, right by Ned’s Auto Body, where he was employed. He loved his job and his coworkers very much.

Russ was a wonderful man and will leave a lasting impression on all of his friends and family. We will all miss you.

We are planning a Celebration of Life for our dearly loved friend sometime in December. Any funds donated will go directly towards the celebration and any other expenses related to his final wishes. I thank you all in advance for your generosity.
