Celebration of life for my dad, Mike Erickson

Hi, my name is Kieran, and I'm doing this fundraiser to help raise money for my dad's medical bills, and celebration of life ceremony. My dad, Mike, has been fighting a hard battle with lung cancer for the past year. He lost his battle on October 22nd. Let me tell you about the man that my dad was, if you didn't already know him.

Mike Erickson was an army veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne in the 70's. During his time in the service, he spent a summer teaching artillery mathematics to cadets at West Point. After leaving the army, he became a mechanical designer and was awarded five patents during his career. While my brother Ian and I were in school, my dad was a scout leader in our boyscout troop. He taught valuable life skills to us and our fellow scouts and friends, and passed down all kinds of knowledge that will serve us all for years to come. Our dad was a hard worker, a loving father and husband, and the best papa to my son, his grandson Elliott. During this challenging last year, he never lost hope or gave up fighting, never stopped smiling, and kept a positive outlook for his family, no matter how bad his situation became. My dad was my hero, and a role model for many in our community. He will be dearly missed. I am reaching out to ask for help for myself and my mom, to be able to afford a proper celebration for a great man. We are struggling to keep up with medical bills and service costs.
