Celebration of Life "Peace Maker" Morris Okonkwo
Morrison Okonkwo was my hero. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 29, 2021 due to complications following a long battle with heart failure. I am fundraising to be able to provide him with a proper burial that will take place in Nigeria. Although he is no longer physically with us, the teachings he leaves behind will continue to be a constant in the lives of all those that knew him.
My father was a beacon of light to those around him. He led a life of servitude and unwavering faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. Because of his faith, my father strived to live his life true to the teachings of Jesus: Love GOD, love thy neighbor as yourself, forgive those who have wronged you, love your enemies, and serve others with grace.
Seeing my father live the teachings of Jesus taught me the significance of relishing in the joy of the Lord and in the promise of the Holy Spirit. In honor of his memory, I will include a verse he lived by:
“I leave you peace. It is my own peace I give you. I give you peace in a different way than the world does. So don’t be troubled. Don’t be afraid.” -John 14:27 ERV
